WVCEH Seeking HMIS Support Assistant

The West Virginia Coalition to End Homelessness, located in Bridgeport, WV is seeking highly qualified applicants for one available position providing Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) support to homelessness service providers throughout the 44 county catchment area of the West Virginia Balance of State (BoS) Continuum of Care (CoC). The HMIS Support Assistant will work in collaboration with WVCEH HMIS team to ensure that end users and agencies are contributing data to HMIS in an accurate, up-to-date and compliant manner. Primary Responsibilities:

  • Works with service providers, WVCEH Coordinated Entry staff and other HMIS staff, to ensure that end users and agencies are contributing data to HMIS in an accurate, up-to-date and compliant manner. This will include both client level data and project unit availability.
  • Utilizing the Permanent Housing Guide, cooperatively work with WVCEH CE staff to ensure that all end users are adhering to approved WVCEH Coordinated Access processes
  • Work with Providers one-on-one on data clean-up, data quality and data entry to support the Balance of State CoC's Coordinated Access processes
  • Assists in providing technical assistance to HMIS agency administrators and end-users to ensure that federally funded, state funded and non-funded providers are following all necessary HMIS guidelines and policies.
  • Manage HMIS resource database records, keeping community resource records up to date and correct on an on-going basis.

Qualifications Summary:

  • Successful candidate will be a highly motivated self-starter with at least 2 years of direct experience with supporting staff in a social service agency or comparable support environment
  • Must be proficient with computers and possess demonstrable skill with Microsoft Office programs
  • Prior experience using the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) is a plus but not required
  • Experience with data entry and ability to manage confidential information
  • Must have good telephone skills, problem-solving skills, communication and customer support skills.
  • Professional, mature demeanor with the ability to work independently is required.
  • This position is housed at the main administrative office in Bridgeport, WV. Successful candidate will have reliable transportation and must be willing to travel occasionally throughout the WV BoS CoC.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • The successful candidate will work from Monday – Friday from 8 am – 4 pm.
